One Tuesday, I received a text message from an unknown number …
“Hi Nick, my name’s XXX and I produce the Afternoons show with Michael McLaren on 2GB Radio. Hope you’re well! I’m reaching out as a listener recommended you for our show. We’re quite interested in your quest to have lunch with 500 strangers and we’d love to have you on air for a chat about what your goals are, why you’re doing this, some of your highlights in the lunches you’ve had with people so far, and how long you have to go until reaching your goal. Would you have time for a 5-10 minute interview with Michael tomorrow over the phone? We’d love to do it at 1:10pm. Let me know what you think – thanks so much!”
The following morning, I pre-recorded an interview with Michael, which was broadcast a few hours later.
I was so busy with work that I didn’t have time to notify anyone about the upcoming segment. So it was a very nice surprise when I received a message from the 277th person I had lunch with, the wonderful Rosemary McKenzie-Ferguson.
“I hear you have an interview with Michael McLaren this afternoon. I look forward to listening.”
Presumably, Rosemary had heard an ad promo on 2GB.
If you’d like to hear what Rosemary heard, you can find the interview on Spotify and Apple.
