Arkadiusz Bryl, the 429th person I’ve met on my quest to have lunch with 500 strangers, promised me a different lunch experience – and he delivered.

For our entree, he purchased food from one restaurant and then found us a quiet spot on the pavement, where we sat on milk crates he’d brought with him; for our main, he took us to a different restaurant, where we sat inside.

Arkadiusz has a warm heart, an entrepreneurial mind and a creative personality. He wears a suit, but doesn’t let it define him.

Arkadiusz is a qualified financial adviser who specialises in helping first home buyers get on the property ladder. He founded his business, Real Knowledge, Diverse Solutions, eight years ago, when he was just 23. But that was not his first venture: when he was in high school, he imported specialist car parts and sold them to fellow car enthusiasts.

During my years as an entrepreneur, I’ve met dozens of business owners who are so busy helping others with a particular service that they neglect to help themselves – like the proverbial plumber with the leaky taps. Arkadiusz is in a similar position: due to a money story that became ingrained during his childhood, he knows he’s not managing his personal finances as efficiently as he could.

Partly for that reason, and partly because he’s full of curiosity, Arkadiusz has created a card game that is designed to trigger discussions about money. He plans to sit down with one person per month, pull out the cards and have deep conversations about money – and improve his mindset along the way.
